Vom CHAOS zum Tanz-Tanztheater
Overview
Intro
Milhaud's "Création du Monde" begins with the chaos and leads to dance - from famous orchestral dances by Bartók, Dvořák and Shostakovich to folk dances where the audience can also join in.
Darius Milhaud's "Création du Monde" begins with the chaos of the earth's creation and leads us to dance - via famous orchestral dances by Bartók, Dvořák and Shostakovich to folk dances from the countries of origin of our orchestra students. Everything ends in a bright, cheerfully organized chaos where the audience is also allowed to dance along.

Dance emerged directly after the creation of the world, almost at the birth of man, even before language - or so the linguist Wolfgang Steinig claims.
In his ballet music "la Création du Monde", Darius Milhaud depicts how the plant and animal world developed out of chaos and how dance developed at the same time as human beeings. The French composer (1892-1974) was so impressed by the rhythms of the first jazz musicians in Paris that he traveled to New York in 1920 to study the newly discovered music in detail in the jazz clubs of Harlem. The ballet "la Création du Monde", based on the libretto by Blaise Cendrar, which is based on African myths, emerged from this study. The artist Ferdinand Léger was responsible for the costumes and stage design.
In our version, the professional musicians of the ensemble "le raid merveilleux" play Milhaud's "Création du Monde", while the children and young people on stage, together with actress Marzella Ruegge, show their theatrical/dance and visually artistic interpretation in the form of projections on a giant globe.
Immediately afterwards, the children perform Bela Bartók's Romanian folk dances side by side with the professional musicians, as well as famous orchestral dances by Bartók, Dvořák and Shostakovich. Gradually, the youngest orchestra students join in and the orchestra itself, dancing and making music, invites the audience to dance along to the folk dances from their countries of origin.
