Ice fishing on Lake Sils
Overview
Intro
The search for the perfect spot on the ice in which to drill a hole is followed by a joyous combination of suspense and patience: ice fishing is a truly special outdoor experience in winter. Those who love fishing and are keen to give it a try can now head to Lake Sils, where the ice fishing project that was launched initially as a pilot is now open to all.
Fishing equipment packed, layered up in warm and windproof clothing and with the ice drill in your hand – you are ready for action. Restaurant Murtaröl has drills available for hire for those who don’t have their own. Having first secured the daily fishing permit online, it’s time to head out onto the ice. Holes can be drilled in the green-marked area. Once you’ve tied your bait to your fishing rod, you can lower it slowly into the lake. Now it’s a waiting game. Bringing a chair along is recommended, because in ice fishing the recipe for success is patience. Waiting for a catch is a chance to enjoy the peace and quiet of the beautiful snow-covered landscape around Lake Sils. With a little luck, a fish will bite. Ideally a lake trout. This fish originally comes from Canada and has spread rapidly throughout Swiss waters. As the project aim is to reduce their population, there is no fishing limit for this species.
