Overview
Intro
The Beckenried–Klewenalp cable car takes you comfortably to 1,600 metres above Lake Lucerne. A wide range of possibilities await you on Klewenalp – from varied hiking trails to excursion destinations such as Stockhütte or Niederbauen.
The Beckenried–Klewenalp cable car at a glance
The valley station is located directly on the shore of Lake Lucerne in Beckenried at 450 metres. In about 10 minutes, the Lufsteilbahn overcomes 1150 metres in altitude to Klewenalp at 1600 metres. In summer and winter, the area offers a wide range of leisure activities. In addition, various mountain inns provide catering.
What to experience
Drive to Klewenalp (10 minutes)
From the valley station in Beckenried, directly on the shores of Lake Lucerne, you ride up 1150 meters in altitude. After just a few metres, the view of the lake and the Central Swiss mountains opens up. The higher you get, the farther the view extends – to the Rigi, the large and small Mythen and the Uri mountain panorama.
- Good to know: The valley station can be easily reached by public transport (PostBus or boat).
- Tip: The train runs every 30 minutes during operating hours.
Hike to the Stockhütte (1.5 hours)
From the Klewenalp mountain station, follow the signs towards Stockhütte. The path leads along the road towards Stafel, around the Klewenstock and through alpine meadows and forest areas via Ängi to the Stockhütte at 1279 metres. There you can stop at the mountain inn or take the gondola down to Emmetten.
- Good to know: The trail is family-friendly and equipped with fire pits.
- Tip: The post bus journey from Emmetten back to Beckenried is included in the train ticket.
Excursion to Niederbauen
You can reach the Niederbauen at 1575 metres by cable car from Emmetten or on foot on a hike from Klewenalp via the wildlife observation trail. From the mountain inn with sun terrace you start to the summit Niederbauen Chulm at 1923 meters (1.5 hours). The "Cheese Trail" circular trail takes you to three alpine cheese dairies in 1.5 hours.
- Good to know: The Niederbauen is also a well-known paragliding area.
- Tip: Surefootedness is necessary on the ascent, the ridge is partly steep and rocky.
