Intro
Cross the Sigriswil panoramic bridge in the Bernese Oberland and look 182 meters deep into the Gummischlucht. From the 340-metre-long suspension bridge you can see the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau as well as Lake Thun.
The Sigriswil Panorama Bridge at a glance
The Sigriswil Panorama Bridge connects the Bernese Oberland villages of Sigriswil and Aeschlen over the 182-metre-deep Gumi Gorge. 4 pillars, each 27 metres high, support the construction made of steel and perforated sheet metal. The bridge is open all year round and is part of the Lake Thun Panorama Circular Trail.
What to experience
Cross the Panorama Bridge (15-20 minutes)
Start on the Sigriswil or Aeschlen side and walk over the 340-metre-long suspension bridge. Below you, the Guntenbach rushes through the Gumi Gorge, in front of you the view opens up to the Eiger, Mönch, Jungfrau and Lake Thun. On site, rangers will answer your questions about nature and technology. The crossing is subject to a fee.
- Good to know: Children up to 16 years of age cross the bridge free of charge.
- Tip: If you are afraid of heights, you can use the alternative route through the Gumi Gorge.
Circular trail Gumi Gorge (45 minutes)
Combine the crossing with the 1.3-kilometer loop trail through the Gumi Gorge. The path leads from the end of the bridge down into the gorge and along the Guntenbach back to the starting point. The section is part of the Lake Thun Panorama Circular Trail, a hiking trail along the most beautiful vantage points around Lake Thun.
- Good to know: Wear sturdy shoes. On the hiking trail you cross 120 meters in altitude.
