This round trip follows for awhile on the five-star hiking trail and ends in the town Diemtigen which was awarded the Wakker-Price for its cultural constructions.
Description
Shortly after the departure from the Oey, Diemtigen train station, you start the ascent in the direction of the Tschuggen viewpoint. After a short warm-up phase along the edge of the forest, you reach Diemtigen. The Wakker-Prize was awarded to Diemtigen for excellence of building constructions. It will be worth a moment of your time to observe the craftsmanship invested in those buildings. Well-preserved houses reflect the art of carpentry of the past 300 years.
The steepest and most strenuous section takes you through the Tschuggenwald forest until you finally arrive at the high plateau of the same name. Lush pastures offer the cattle pleasant summer months on the alpine slopes. Dairy cows are on the meadows and the cheese is produced right on the Alp. Once every year a traditional festival is held.
Via Chilchflue and then mostly through the forest, the trail descends to Riedli and the bus stop. If you still feel like it, you can follow the valley waters of the Fildrich which joins the Chirel at Horboden. You continue between forest and river until the route ends back in the village of Oey in the foremost part of the Diemtigtal valley.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
