Arnisee-Weg
Overview
Intro
While you are on this car-free sunny mountain terrace in the canton of Uri, the Lake Arni winter hiking trail is the perfect place to stroll along the lakeside. Winter hikers are enchanted by the breathtaking mountain scenery along this easy and level route.
Description
If you are looking for peace and relaxation, the sunny Arni is the perfect place to be. Set out into this winter wonderland from the valley station in Intschi. It only takes six minutes for the cable car to transport you up to this Alpine paradise.
At the heart of this sunny mountain terrace is the frozen Lake Arni (1,368 metres above sea level), which you soon reach after covering a loop of just over one kilometre. This artificially-created little gem of a lake is surrounded by a snow-covered pine forest, but it still has a very natural character. The lake, an inviting place for a barbecue and bathing in summer, serves as a reservoir fed by the Leitschach and Intschialp streams.
The panorama above is impressive indeed, and it stretches from Windgällen to the uniform, triangular pyramid of the Bristen. If you take a side trip to the viewing point at Vorder Arni, you will have a wonderful view over the Reuss Valley. Somewhat hidden in the forest yet close to the lake is a small chapel. If you are looking to escape the stresses of everyday life, this is the place to be. The mountain restaurants with their views of the Uri mountains are also ideal places to relax and unwind.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
