Bärnbiet Skate
Overview
Intro
One half of the Bärnbiet Skate leads through the urban sprawl of a large city, the other through countryside. An interesting programme of contrasts. Less accomplished skaters choose the area between Schönbühl lake and Kirchberg.

Description
At first sight, the topography of Bern’s city centre doesn’t exactly lend itself to inline skating. But this is no reason to skirt the capital city. On the contrary: why not choose Bern as the departure point for a skating tour to Burgdorf? This is precisely what the Bärnbiet Skate makes possible!
The landscape in the area north of Bern is strongly marked by the A1 motorway and Railway 2000, Switzerland’s major traffic routes, as well as industrial zones and shopping centres. Soon after reaching the nearby recreational area of the Moossee lake the scene visibly changes.
After Schönbühl the route becomes exclusively rural in character. The Bärnbiet Skate leads past stately farmhouses, through the gentle, typically Mittelland countryside. A touristic highlight waits at the end: the «Gateway to the Emmental»; the Zähringer town of Burgdorf with its impressive castle complex, extends an invitation to stay rather longer.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
