Chapf-Loipe
Overview
Intro
The Chapf loop is the easier trail in the cross-country ski area of Arventritt. It does not have large ascents, but nevertheless offers a fantastic view.
Description
The cross-country ski area of Arventritt is on the terrace of Amden-Arvenbüel high above Walensee. From this location, the Chapf cross-country ski run offers an unrivalled view: from the Glarner Alps over the majestic Mürtschenstock on the opposite side of the Walensee, to the Leistkamm, the highest Ammler mountain, which rises before the Churfirsten.
The most spectacular view of this panorama is at the nearby Chapf overlook, which offers a chance to take breather. At this point you are at the edge of the vertically sloping rock wall and gazing down on the Walensee with the Betlis peninsula 800 meters below, along with the Strahlegg castle ruin and the Linthebene.
This sunny cross-country trail partly leads through the forest, partly over open fields, and past the ski school in the Arvenbüel. The prominent Leistkamm is always in sight on the way back. If it gets a bit warm on the small slope up to the Chapf, the forest promises a chance to cool down again at the end of the cross-country trail.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
