Chemin de Loutze
Overview
Intro
Hike with magnificent views of the Valais Alps. Visible on the horizon: the villages on the plain, Sion with its castles and patchwork of hillside vineyards. The trail leads uphill through the forest and across snowy meadows, then towards Bouvette de Loutze and back again.
Description
The small holiday resort of Ovronnaz is situated on a south-facing sun terrace above the Rhône Valley. Surrounded by Grand Chavalard, the peaks of Petit and Grand Muveran and Haut de Cry with its limestone cliffs, the place is also known for its thermal baths. The route starts slightly higher up in the Tourbillon district.
The trail then winds its way through the pine forest and open terrain towards Croix de Loutze. To the north, the Dent de Chamosentse towers above the forest and the area around Loutze. At regular intervals, you get to enjoy sweeping views of Haut de Cry and the Rhône Plain.
The route then follows along the road to Buvette de Loutze. The terrace with panoramic views offers a welcome break, including Valais specialities. You then follow the same route back to Ovronnaz.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
