Crap Masegn Bike
Overview
Intro
Tour from Falera via the Crap Sogn Gion to the Crap Masegn requiring a high level of stamina. The high altitude part offers profound Insights in to alpine terrain.
Description
First you climb from Laax Murschetg up to Falera and continue in the direction of the Crap Sogn Gion on an easily negotiable mountain track. Gradually, you leave the tree line behind you. If you prefer a more laid-back tour, take a break at the Tegia Miez mountain restaurant before you tackle the last ascent. From here it’s not much further to the Crap Sogn Gion. You can see the distinctive summit station of the Laax cableways from far away. If you prefer to get around the total ascent of 1,700 altitude meters, take the gondola in Laax Murschetg. There are still about 300 altitude meters to climb to the Crap Masegn. The views across the peaks of the Surselva region from the Crap Masegn, the highest point of the tour, are ample reward for your efforts.
Now the fun begins with the single trail. It goes up and down through high-mountain terrain, crosses clear mountain streams and leads across wind-swept Alpine meadows to the Camona Vorab hut. Continue over small wooden bridges across karst streams, deeply cut into the mountain. The terrain is formed by glaciers and is optimal for mountain biking. At Alp Sogn Martin you follow a narrow trail and enter Val Plaun. Past the Plaun Larisch waterfall, you reach the Plaun plain and after a short distance on a dirt road you come to the lower part of the Nagens Trail. It leads through the Green Valley to Runcahöhe.
Now the fun really begins: the popular Runca Flow Trail meanders mostly through the forest down to Flims Waldhaus. The section starting at Runcahöhe is packed with berms, tables and a few jumps, but you can bypass all obstacles, if you wish. Whether expert or beginner, the “Flow Country Trail” through the rugged area makes everybody smile. The next roughly 3.5 kilometers back to Laax are easy cruising.
A one of a kind Alpine adventure with awesome panoramic views across the entire Surselva Valley and the Vorab mountain. The tour is suitable for both novices and advanced riders and easily doable, even with an e-mountain bike. However, safe riding skills on Alpine single trails are a must.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
