What a wild wonderland! Over centuries, the Posterior Rhine has gouged out this deep ravine and sculpted a landscape of bizarre rock formations.
Description
The cantonal road from Thusis reveals the full-on drama of the Viamala, particularly on the staircase that leads deep into the gorge from the visitor centre. But also the drive itself is an adventure, leading over bridges, through galleries and tunnels, and finally emerging into the sunshine in Zillis. The traditional Graubünden village of Andeer is also worth a stop before heading on to the mystical Roffla Gorge and along the shores of Sufnersee reservoir to the Walser village of Splügen.
