Gürbetaler Höhenweg
Overview
Intro
A perfect 27 km hike along the Gürbetaler Höhenweg Path close to the city of Berne, leading along the Längenberg and Gürbental valley. An ideal hike for those who enjoy views of the distant Alps and have a cultural interest in farmhouses.
Description
Starting point for this hike is Kehrsatz. Following a short climb on the flanks of the Längenberg, the Gürbetaler Höhenweg Path gently leads up and down on a natural trail through fertile land and woods. Dreamlike, untouched landscapes meet the eye of hikers, with stunning snow-capped mountains in the distance and beautiful old farmhouses, further embellished with floral decoration.
Attractions underway are the Falebach Weiler – best-kept hamlet on the Längenberg – or the might walls of sandstone above Gutenbrünnen, in which rare birds nest. Picnic spots, seating banks and numerous guesthouses cordially invite one to stop, enjoy and take in the scenery.
Across lush meadows, through rows of trees and later downhill along the Mülibach stream, the hike ends in Mühlethurnen with its characteristic Bernese-style farmhouses. Next stop: civilisation.
