A pass hike with panorama: Trudging through the versatile landscapes at the foot of Bäderhorn, you gaze into Niedersimmental and the Bernese Alps. Especially impressive: the rugged spikes of Gastlosen.
Description
Jaunpass, also called «Röstipass», connects the Bernese Simmental with the Gruyère region in the Canton of Freiburg. This once made it important for national defence. In the Second World War, the region was upgraded into artillery fortification and bunkers were disguised as alpine huts. Today, Jaunpass is quiet and tranquil – particularly when you trudge through the glittering landscape with your snowshoes.
Following the winter hiking trail, you reach the Bädermoos region from the exit point on the pass (Camping). There, the trail turns right and runs along the summer route around Bäderegg. The view into Niedersimmental is phenomenal. A short but steep ascent through a sparse forest leads into the Bäderberg region. After crossing the forest, a splendid panorama opens up into the Bernese Alps and the nearby Gastlosen with its razor-sharp spikes.
Past the impressive Alpine huts of the «Gross Bäder» and «Klein Bäder», the trail leads across to Gislibüel and the fireplace of the same name located in front of it. The resting point is at an idyllic location, again with a tremendous view of Gastlosen and the remote place called Abländschen. The return trail initially goes through a forest stretch and then along the winter hiking trail back into Bädermoos and to Jaunpass.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
