Kemmeriboden–Bumbach Trail
Overview
Intro
This snowshoe trail begins at the Kemmeriboden-Bad country inn and heads along the left bank of the burgeoning Emme through a variety of forests, meadows, and hamlets. It begins with a climb that is rewarded with views of the mountain range of the Alps.
Description
The hamlet of Kemmeriboden stands near the source of the Emme, at the top of the Bumbachtal valley. The easy snowshoe trail leads from this point through the foothills of the Hohgant to Bumbach. This summer hiking trail is well signposted on the left-hand side of the burgeoning Emme, and runs past a constantly changing series of isolated farms and snowy woodland and meadows.
On the first part of the trail, the route climbs around 120 meters up to the Gepsli area. If there is new fresh snow (and thus no existing tracks), this can be quite tiring. However, up on the top, snowshoe hikers are rewarded with fantastic views of the Hohgant and the Alpine mountain range. The subsequent descent then takes you back down to the Emme and to Schwand.
From Schwandweid, trudge up the valley to Bumbach, at the foot of the Hohgant. Refreshment facilities are available at the beginning and end of the route.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
