Intro
The Herlisberg-Römerswil cross-country skiing trail is something of an insider’s secret in Lucerne’s Seetal region. It passes through a nature conservation area and offers breathtaking views of the Central Swiss Alps and two lakes.
Description
Situated on the Erlosen hills, the varied and well-groomed Herlisberg-Römerswil trail is suitable for all levels of skiers. Short-cuts are possible at several points, and the views of the Central Swiss Alps are striking.
The trail negotiates the Vogelmoos, a nature conservation area noted for its biodiversity and covering some 80,000 m2 of open country and forest. At Steinhaus, shortly before Herlisberg, the views reach as far as Lake Hallwil.
Skiers needing to catch their breath after their exertions could stop off at the Herlisberg Restaurant. It offers a wonderful views of Lake Baldegg, the largest of Switzerland’s lakes in private hands (Pro Natura –the Swiss League for the Protection of Nature).
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
