Rheinfall-Rundweg
Overview
Intro
The Rhine Falls are the centrepiece of this circular hike. It starts from Laufen Castle, towering majestically above the Rhine Falls – unperturbed by the immense force of the waters that rage below it. We descend straight to the water's edge, cross the bridge to the other side and start climbing again opposite the castle.
Description
The circular route descends straight to the water's edge, with access to the viewing platform (entry charge) and the boats. We walk downstream to the Nohl Rhine Jetty and cross the bridge to the other bank.
The route keeps following the Rhine, with the Falls in front of us again; soon, we reach Wörth Castle, literally within spitting distance of the raging waters of Europe's largest waterfall. The colourful boats that rock and sway towards the spectacle and the rocky islet in the middle of the waterfall seem almost surreal.
The route climbs to the left, past the mill-wheel, and along the Rhine Falls to more viewing pulpits above.
The trail then follows the upstream bend and crosses the Flurlinger footbridge, back to Laufen Castle. To shorten the route, hikers can return directly to the starting point via the railway bridge.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
