Description
A huge shunting yard, small railway station from 1847- home of the so-called «Spanish-bread train» – and today's modern Mutschellen rail that trundles uphill on the Dorfstrasse: Dietikon, a village that's become a city with 23,000 inhabitants. Along the Reppisch it's quieter, with the peacefully murmuring stream drowned only by the sounds of military gunfire once in a while. Mostly in view from this bike route is the still largely unspoilt 25-kilometer long Reppisch stretch. A small stream winds its way through the newly created 6 km eco-corridor between Landikon and Gamlikon – through especially beautiful nature with many rare plants and animal shelters. The idyllic natural paradise with meadows and bogs surrounding the Türlersee lake actually owes its existence to a primeval natural disaster.
Past the Zwingli monument in Kappel and down to the Zug region, paradise for tax optimizers from all over the world. The route leads along a busy stretch beside the Zugersee, in a stunning mountain world. You reach Arth-Goldau, a main railway hub towards the Gotthard, deer eye each other up in the boulder-strewn Goldau Animal Park, the Rigi and Mythen peaks encircle the Lauerzersee lake.
Resolutely on into the historic heart of Switzerland, to the ancient town of Schwyz, guardian of the Swiss Federal Charter and site of Switzerland’s oldest wooden dwelling.
