Schneeschuhtrail Plattis
Overview
Intro
Recharge your batteries away from the hustle and bustle of winter. On the Plattis snowshoe trail, you can enjoy the tranquillity of the snow-covered mountains with magnificent panoramic views of the Spitzmeilen area. The easy snowshoe hike is ideal for beginners.
Description
The snowshoe hike starts at the Panüöl alpine restaurant, which can be reached on foot via the Prodalp-Panüöl snowshoe trail or with the gondola and chairlift from Flumserberg Tannenboden via Maschgenkamm. The cosy sun terrace offers magnificent views of the Spitzmeilen. The circular tour leads across the Plattis plateau. Enjoy the peaceful and idyllic winter scenery where cows graze on alpine meadows in summer.
After the first few metres, the trail branches off to the left and leads along the mountain's edge. Along this section, the Spitzmeilen area shows itself from its most impressive side. The steep rocky peak of the Spitzmeilen juts out of the snowy slopes. Situated on the border of the cantons of St. Gallen and Glarus, Flums's local mountain is a popular touring destination in summer and winter. After about 1.2 km, you cross the Tannenboden-Fursch cross-country ski track and follow the trail past snow-covered fir trees. Slightly ascending, the route bends around the small moor area. With a bit of luck, you may discover tracks of wild animals in the snow.
On the last stretch, you cross the ski run as well as a ski lift and return to the alpine restaurant. Ambitious snowshoe hikers can combine the tour with the Panüöl-Prodalp snowshoe trail. Thanks to its southern exposure, the descent will reward you with plenty of afternoon sun and a spectacular view of Sarganserland.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
