Trail Run Jura - Gorges de l'Areuse
Overview
Intro
The true charm of running this middle-section of the Jura Crest Trail lies in the region’s quieter corners, along the gently winding trail through the majestic forest.
Description
An easy start from Chambrelien, near Neuchâtel, with a mix of trails and roads. From Rochefort, a steeper forest climb takes you to a 4 kilometers stretch over the ridge from Tablettes. After a quick descent through the town of Noiraigue, the river trail slants slightly downward through Gorges de l’Areuse. Most of the run is in the gorge, criss-crossing over bridges, including the famous Saut de Brot. The surrounding landscape is a vibrant emerald green. After reaching the Pont de Vert, a short climb leads you to the finish at Chambrelien.
Low-lying Jura is the perfect playground for early spring and summer runs while waiting for the snow to melt from higher trails in the Alps.
Tip from ALPSinsight: On hot summer days, cool down in nearby Lake Neuchâtel.
