Sulwald
Overview
Intro
The nostalgic red cable car carries passengers from the sunny mountain village of Isenfluh above Lauterbrunnen up to the hamlet of Sulwald. The cabin has enough room for eight people or one cow.
The small, almost nostalgic cable car has been operating since 1975 and is inextricably linked with the life of the local community. It carries passengers to a marvellous hiking area with unique views of the three mighty peaks of the Bernese Oberland, the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.
From here you can see the Grindelwald valley, the Schynige Platte ridge, deep into the Lauterbrunnen valley and of course the three giants of the Bernese Oberland, the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Those wishing to explore the Alpine landscape can climb to the little Sulseeli lake and the SAC Lobhorn hut, then continue on to the top of the Sulegg (2,413 metres). Other highlights include a monster scooter track (toboggan run in winter) and a trail devoted to nature, folklore and physical exercise.
