Are you looking for an impressive panorama, hearty Fribourg specialities and a romantic sunset? Then it’s off to Fribourg’s favourite mountain, the Moléson.
In the winter months, the funicular runs until late in the evening from the Plan-Francey middle station to the valley at Moléson-sur-Gruyères and vice versa. Perfect, then, for winding down after a hard day’s work or an eventful snow day high up on the mountain. The views there are just beautiful. The view stretches from the idyllic Gruyère Pre-Alps to the imposing Bernese and Valais Alps. And the whole scene becomes all the more impressive at sunset, when the powerful evening glow gently settles over the hills and mountains and the last rays of the sun warm the heart. After the impressive showcase of colour, the next stop is the cozy Berghotel-Restaurant Plan-Francey, to indulge in culinary delights. The evening menu offers hearty dishes from the region – including fondue and delicious homemade macaroni. When night falls, don’t miss the chance to admire the starry night sky. And if you would like to stay on the mountain and enjoy this atmosphere for longer, simply book one of the few rooms available. The benefits of this are clear: the next morning, all the winter leisure activities will be waiting right on your doorstep. Incidentally, the Moléson excursion mountain also attracts visitors to its heights in summer – either on foot or with the mountain cable cars and railways (funicular and aerial cableway).
