Sit yourself down on the swings, enjoy the view and experience a little moment of happiness. Visitors love the swings from “Swing the World”, which bring back childhood memories.
You’ll find a big wooden swing in the middle of Shaka Beach in Vira Gambarogno. You can glide through the air here just a few centimetres above the surface of Lake Maggiore. The view of the lake and the Verzasca Valley is quite unique. Ascona can be seen on the other side of the lake. There is another wooden swing not far from the old town on the Piazza Giuseppe Motta promenade. In the foreground is the wonderful view of Lake Maggiore, with the typically colourful houses in the background. This is a unique place to unwind and dream with your eyes wide open. Take a deep breath and let yourself swing happily through the air.
After having enjoyed the swing in Ascona, it is worth visiting one of the cafés or bars in the old town. To round off the excursion, we recommend a stand-up paddle board tour of Lake Maggiore. The perfect way to cool off!
Swing the World is a project by two young people from Ticino with a great passion for photography and videomaking. Their goal is to encourage people to spend more time in nature and discover new places. The homemade swings are hung in particularly picturesque, hidden and unique spots around Ticino. Sustainability and respect for nature play an important role in this.
The swings can all be reached on foot, by cable car, or by public transport (free with the Ticino Ticket). You’ll find more information about the project and other swing locations here.
