The White Tower of Mulegns – Architecture Meets Poetry
Overview
Intro
In the middle of the Graubünden village of Mulegns rises a unique building: The White Tower. Thirty meters high, built from digitally printed columns, inspired by the imagination of confectioners – the tower is a symbol of new beginnings, innovation and cultural vitality.
The White Tower grows out of the historic forge of the Post Hotel Löwe in Mulegns. Thirty meters high, supported by 32 unique columns designed by the Nova Fundaziun Origen Cultural Foundation in cooperation with ETH Zurich, the Graubünden construction companies Zindel United and Uffer Group and the engineering firm Conzett Bronzini Partner AG and manufactured using state-of-the-art robot technology. The tower is crowned by a light dome consisting of another 16 columns. In summer, the 8m high domed hall is flooded with light; festively veiled in winter.
The building is a reminder of the history of the emigrants from the valley who, as confectioners all over the world, elevated their craft to art. This tradition is reflected in the playful design language of the tower and lives on in the new gelateria at the foot of the building. On the top floor is the open domed hall – a room for concerts, readings and installations.
The White Tower is the tallest digitally printed building in the world – a pioneering technical project and at the same time a poetic monument to a village with a great history. Mulegns, once threatened with extinction, receives new momentum with the tower, new perspectives and new guests.

Former soloists of the Hamburg Ballet John Neumeier and promising amateurs from the canton of Graubünden will be on stage. More details here .
