Intro

The Jura is famous for its many organic farms. For decades, farmers here have been nurturing their produce in harmony with nature. Along “Les chemins du bio” (the organic trails) you can hike to various organic farms and see their work. The network boasts about 30 organic farms. They offer a warm welcome, with farm tours, regional delicacies and accommodation. At Le Peu Girard and Lafleur in the Franches-Montagnes region, for example.

A farm with much to discover

The Le Peu Girard farm is paradise for animal lovers. It is home to rabbits, chickens, pigs, sheep, cows, dogs, cats and a donkey. Children love it here too. Kathrine happily shows them how to stroke the animals and ride on the donkey. It’s an unforgettable experience!

Delicacies fresh from the farm

Kathrine treats guests to lots of farm produce: milk, fresh yogurt, home-made bread, vegetables and fruit from the garden as well as cheese and salsiz sausages. “I want to introduce guests to the unique flavours of organic food,” she says.

Organic pioneer with a mission

Bernard Froidevaux has created organic products on his Lafleur farm «Lafleur» in Montfaucon for more than 40 years. He created Les Chemins du Bio to bring consumers and producers closer together again.

Bernard Froidevaux

Bernard enjoys showing hikers round his farm. “Guests can immerse themselves in our world and we see a little of theirs.” He wants visitors to see with their own eyes, where their food comes from and how it is made. First-rate organic products are made with passion and perseverance.

Bernard Froidevaux is the last farmer to still create Tête de Moine – the region’s most famous cheese – according to a traditional recipe. This means using only fresh cow milk during the summer grazing period and not heating it above 44°C. At the moment, he is introducing three successors to the art of making traditional Tête de Moine.

After just two nights, many guests become true friends.
