Schlittelweg Tschiertschen
Overview
Intro
The sledding path is roughly 3 km long and leads from the mountain station of the Waldstafel chairlift via Furgglis down to peaceful Tschiertschen. Fast downhill runs and exhilarating turns offer lots of fun for the whole family – either with a toboggan or with the ever popular Gögel, a contraption made in Tschiertschen.
Description
The sledding fun starts at the Waldstafel mountain station above Tschiertschen in the Schanfigg region. You quickly gain speed right after the start as you race down the first steep slope before you turn and head for the passage through the forest along Alpstrasse. Ultimately, you will shoot across the clearing to get to the Furgglis mountain restaurant. If you have time to look on the way, the views of the mountains are spectacular.
Now the path enters the light forest again, makes some exciting turns, passes the “Geissböda” area and continues down to Fups. Near the old Fups fountain you reach a multiway slope, which is used by winter hikers and skiers. Watching out for others is crucial here. It takes just a few more turns from the car park at the gravel pit down to the valley station, but you’re sure to have fun all the way to the destination. Tschiertschen is a peaceful place, nestled in the amazing mountain scenery between Arosa and Lenzerheide. With its weatherworn wooden buildings Tschiertschen is known to be one of the most beautiful villages in the mountains of Graubünden.
For something out of the ordinary: If you wish, you could also do this with a ski gögel. A gögel is a mixture between ski and sled and was basically invented in Tschiertschen. It consists of a ski, a Derbyflex plate, a piece of oak wood and a seat plate. Keep in mind that it takes agility to control a gögel, and you also need a good sense of balance.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
