Slow and steady The cock crows, the jester tolls the bell a little too early and Chronos, the god of time, turns the hourglass. When the bells ring out in Bern’s old town, one thing becomes clear – time moves differently here. With this in mind, we recommend you take a leisurely approach to this tour. You can quite easily stop for a breather during the ride along the Green Belt (Grünes Band), if not before, on this e-bike trail that takes you through the small towns and villages surrounding Switzerland’s capital city. The Gantrisch Legend Route is particularly idyllic and getting to hear some of our local legends as you make your way through the Gantrisch Nature Park will wash away the stress of your daily grind and inspire dreams of a bygone age. The historic castle and charming half-timbered houses in Laupen are likewise sure to draw you in. Then, as you ride along the Frienisberg panoramic route, you’ll be able to see as far as the Jura and the Alps. “Slow and steady wins the race,” says the proverb, but it’s not a race. A bike tour on the Little Bern Loop’s such a wonderfully relaxing experience, so why rush at all?
