Aletschhorn
Intro
The second-highest peak in the Bernese Alps is also considered to be the coldest across the entire Alpine region. The highly glaciated Aletschhorn towers over the UNESCO-listed Jungfrau-Aletsch area.

In the heart of the UNESCO-listed Jungfrau-Aletsch area, the Aletschhorn towers high over the glacier of the same name, which also happens to be the largest glacier in the Alps. The glaciated mountain peak is 4,193 metres above sea level, making it the Bernese Alps’ second-highest peak after the Finsteraarhorn. There are several routes that can be taken up to the top – but the best option would be to go across the northeast ridge or the southwest side. Both are very challenging, however.
