Hinter Fiescherhorn (4,025m a.s.l.)
Hint
Intro
The Hinter Fiescherhorn only rises slightly above the firn line between the three peaks of the Fiescherhorn massif. It has nevertheless earned the right to be recognised as a separate four-thousand-metre peak, and a popular one at that.
Hinter Fiescherhorn (4,025m a.s.l.) at a glance
The three peaks of the Fiescherhorn massif lie in the Bernese Alps, on the border between the cantons of Bern and Valais. The second highest, the Hinter Fiescherhorn, is 4,025m a.s.l. and is located entirely in the canton of Valais. Although the summit only rises slightly above the firn line, the Hinter Fiescherhorn is classed as a separate four-thousand-metre peak, perhaps one of the reasons why it is such a popular peak experience for climbers. South-east of the mountain, the Fiescherhorn peaks are linked to the Grünhorn group via a ridge that leads to the Klein Grünhornlücke pass.
