Lauteraarhorn (4,042m a.s.l.)
Intro
A mountain in the Bernese Alps that is relatively rarely climbed, with the Schreckhorn often being favoured instead. The Lauteraargrat is a more popular destination than the Lauteraarhorn.
This mountain in the canton of Bern is rarely visited, even though it is one of the highest in the Bernese Alps. In contrast to the very highest, the Schreckhorn, this four-thousander is climbed significantly less often. The Aarbiwak (2,731m a.s.l.) serves as a starting point for the usual route. The route takes climbers across the south face couloir and the southeast ridge to the peak, at 4,042 metres above sea level. In contrast to the Lauteraarhorn, the Lauteraargrat traverse is extremely popular.
