Liskamm east peak (4,533m a.s.l.)
Intro
A challenging and treacherous mountain in the Valais Alps. Also known as “the man-eater” – it’s only for experienced mountain climbers.
At 4,533 metres above sea level, the east summit is the highest point of the Liskamm ridge. In the middle of the Valais Alps, it joins the Matterhorn to the east and the Monte Rosa group to the west. The ascent crosses the eastern or southern ridge and is not particularly difficult. Even so, the Liskamm can be very treacherous due to the frequent avalanches and the many cornices lying on the ridge. Unfortunately, many serious accidents that have taken place here, earning it the nickname “the man-eater”. So it could be said that this is a four-thousander for more proficient climbers.
