You will be inspired by the fascinating history of Solothurn's gates and walls. The city's oldest fortification is the Crooked Tower. The tower rises 50 meters to a pentagon with unequal sides, so the pointed tower appears to be crooked. The Burris Tower, (also known as "Muttiturm" or "Kulturm") is the counterpart of the Riedholz Tower - a sturdy, rounded cornerstone of the old town. Solothurn also has a clock tower – steeped in legend, it is the city's oldest structure! The "performance" at the top of every hour, the clockwork mechanism and the group of figures must be seen on any visit to the city! This is an active guided tour for anyone interested in old towers, gates and walls.
