Fumetto – International Comic Festival
Intro
Fumetto has evolved from a small, regional event into one of Europe's major international comic festivals. Today it is one of the most important platforms for comic art.
Launched in 1992, Fumetto was initially aimed at young people and art students. Since 1999 it has been held under the banner of Fumetto – International Comic Festival Lucerne. The festival today comprises around 10 main exhibitions as well as 40 satellite and showcase exhibitions, and lasts for nine days.
Fumetto focuses on exhibiting artistically sophisticated comics while also incorporating other art movements such as drawing, illustration, visual arts, graphics, performance and animation. It showcases the world's leading comic artists, young talents and current trends in comic art.
With around 50,000 visitors, Fumetto is one of the biggest events in the festival city of Lucerne.
