Paul Juon Music Festival
Overview
Intro
For this inaugural edition, the festival has brought together an exceptional artistic line-up: Clémence de Forceville, Benedict Klöckner, Louis Schwizgebel and Haoran Wang.
The festival is primarily dedicated to the Swiss-Russian composer Paul Juon (1872–1940).
Nicknamed the ‘Russian Brahms’ by his fellow student Sergei Rachmaninoff, Paul Juon succeeded in combining lyrical beauty, expressive depth and a remarkable mastery of composition in his music. Like many composers of the early 20th century, such as Alban Berg, Arnold Schoenberg and Maurice Ravel, he developed a highly personal harmonic language, lending his work a unique richness and colour. His musical style builds a subtle bridge between the traditions of late Romanticism and the early developments of modernism.
The idea of creating this festival arose from a desire to share this extraordinary musical legacy with a wider audience. Together with the audience in La Côte, the musicians will embark on a journey of rediscovery through Paul Juon’s chamber music, with the aim of bringing his works back to life on the concert stage, where they truly belong.
The long-term aim is to develop the Paul Juon Music Festival into an internationally recognised classical music festival in the Nyon region, capable of attracting exceptional artists, fostering artistic exchange and contributing to the Swiss cultural landscape, whilst remaining true to the spirit of discovery that inspired its creation.
* The Paul Juon Festival will take place on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September 2026 at the Salle de la Colombière in Nyon.
* Saturday 19 September: concert starts at 7.30 pm
* Sunday 20 September: concert starts at 11.15 am
