Salvatore Vitale setzt sich in seinen Werken damit auseinander, wie die Plattformarbeit – die sogenannte Gig Economy – die Arbeitswelt verändert, und legt die Widersprüche des digitalen Kapitalismus

Salvatore Vitale setzt sich in seinen Werken damit auseinander, wie die Plattformarbeit – die sogenannte Gig Economy – die Arbeitswelt verändert, und legt die Widersprüche des digitalen Kapitalismus offen.

Mithilfe von Fotografien, Installationen und Videos beschreibt er den Alltag von Menschen, deren Leben zunehmend von Daten und Algorithmen bestimmt wird, und entwirft dabei Formen des Widerstands.

In Zusammenarbeit mit Freelancern und Freelancerinnen aus Südafrika beleuchtet er zugleich die Verwundbarkeit wie auch die Resilienz von Plattformbeschäftigte und erinnert uns daran, dass die menschliche Arbeit, selbst wenn sie unsichtbar bleibt, für entmaterialisierte Wirtschaftssysteme von zentraler Bedeutung ist.
