Im Haus der Fotografie zeigt Sebastian Copeland Grönland, wie man es selten sieht – rau, eindrücklich und ganz nah an Mensch und Natur.
Sebastian Copeland zählt zu den grossen Abenteurern unserer Zeit: preisgekrönter Fotograf, Polarforscher und unermüdlicher Vermittler einer bedrohten Welt.
Einst Modefotograf, zieht es ihn heute in die Wildnis der Polarregionen. Auf Skiexpeditionen durch die Arktis entstehen eindrucksvolle, fast greifbare Bilder von Eislandschaften und der Inuit - Bevölkerung Grönlands.
Seit über 25 Jahren prägt Copeland die Konservierungs- und Kunstfotografie. Seine Werke erscheinen weltweit, unter anderem in National Geographic und The New York Times. Er leitete 27 Polarexpeditionen und legte über 12’000 Kilometer auf Skiern zurück – bei Temperaturen bis zu minus 60 Grad.
Die Ausstellung im HAUS DER FOTOGRAFIE bringt diese faszinierende, fragile Welt nach Olten: SEBASTIAN COPELAND’S "GREENLAND: THE LAST GENERATION ON ICE" lädt dazu ein, in das fragile ewige Eis Grönlands einzutauchen.
