The sumptuous sixteenth-century mansion of Casorella provides the venue for the art collections of the City of Locarno. The permanent display highlights its most significant groups of works.
In the rooms of the Museo Casorella one can appreciate a selection of the most significant works from the “Galassia Arp″ (or “Arp Galaxy”) holding, comprising reliefs, découpages and sculptures by the great Alsatian artist Jean Arp (1887-1966), donated by him to the City, enriched by a large number of works by artists close to him, above all Sophie Taeuber-Arp.
Casorella also conserves a series of paintings by Filippo Franzoni (1857-1911), the most famous Locarno-born artist.
A display of works by Max Bill (1908-1994) is also present in the external space of the museum.
