Intro
This cozy hike leads to the old mountain hut settlement in Mittelberg and offers a beautiful natural experience. Along the way, you can visit the Alpine Cheese Dairy and before the destination, a visit to the Schlössli Parpan (small castle) is recommended.
Description
The starting point of the approximately seven kilometer long hike is Café Bärglädali in Parpan. The path now leads eastwards along the Oberbergstrasse to Tschuggen. Along this path you will find the Alpine Cheese Dairy Parpan, where a stop is worthwhile. In the dairy we can learn more about the processing of alpine milk. Cheese is only in the summer months.
Arriving on the Tschuggen, the steepest part of the hike is already done. Now the hike leads only downhill to the turning point at the beautiful mountain hut settlement Mittelberg. From there, the hikers return to Parpan.
Arriving in the village, it is worth a visit to the listed, late-Gothic church and the Schlössli (small castle) Parpan. This was built in the middle of the 16th century and extended in 1675 to the final version with the cross-ridge, octagonal domed towers and balcony.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
