Mont de Coeuve Bike
Overview
Intro
There is a mountain bikers' paradise for the whole family: the Ajoie. A leisurely bike tour starting in the town of Porrentruy takes you through pleasant rural landscapes.
Description
On this tour bikers will discover some typical rural stretches of land characterized by gentle rolling hills and a wide horizon. It is the ideal environment to move along in a relaxed way among cultivated fields, small forests and orchards.
At the outset you can admire the old washhouses of Coeuve dating from the 18th century. A bit more to the north near Damphreux you might be able to sight some of the storks which always spend the summer there. The paths lead mainly through rural areas, but there are also some technically more demanding forest passages. Nice views of the Vosges can be enjoyed in many places.
Across multi-coloured fields and meadows and through shady forest areas you get to Boncourt. Make sure you stop in the old village centre to take a look at the charming timber-framed houses from the 18th and 19th century, before you head back in the direction of Porrentruy. On the way back you might want to take a short break on Mont de Coeuve and enjoy the magnificent sweeping views. Time seems to stand still here. The views range across the beautiful Ajoie region, also known as the orchard of the Jura. An outing which seems to have been taken from a children’s picture book, not that far from home, but it somehow conveys the feeling of being away for a while.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
