Parcours de Nods
Overview
Intro
At the foot of the Chasseral, high on the Plateau of Diesse, this magnificent snow-shoe excursion at about 1,200 m above sea level offers an astounding view over the plateau and the Alpine chain, all in beautifully wooded terrain.
Description
On the Nods uplands, a friendly country village at the foot of the Chasseral massif (1,607 m above sea level), this pleasant excursion starts off towards the north-west. A superb panorama unfolds over the plateau of Diesse as well as the Alpine chain as you climb across the Champ Matthieu.
Once the 1,017 metre marker is reached at the entrance to the forest, a climb, always towards the north-east, finishes at the 1,080 metre marker where you turn left towards the Chasseral summit and its imposing antenna known for miles around.
After several kilometres walking in superb natural surroundings composed mainly of oaks, sycamores and spruces you will reach the 1,274 metre marker which represents the end of the outward part of the excursion. Here you take the Nods-Chasseral footpath which takes you back to your starting point in a relatively tricky descent.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
