Rickenloipe
Overview
Intro
A slightly hilly trail set in the scenic countryside of the Ricken upland moor. Several shortcuts make it an ideal choice for hobby skiers and families. The Bildhuus turning point affords breathtaking views across the Linth Plain to the mountains of Glarus and Central Switzerland.
Description
The main trail around the Durchschlagen upland moor has a total length of about 10 kilometres. Including several additional loops, it covers an altitude difference of 160 metres. If this seems too challenging, you can choose between several shortcuts to save yourself a few metres in altitude difference.
The route leads along several small woodlands. The Bildhuus turning point on the Ricken offers sweeping views of the Linth Plain and the mountains of Glarus and Central Switzerland. Take a break and refuel at the Restaurant Bildhuus, located at the halfway mark, or the clubhouse near the start.
The slightly shorter classic trail runs mainly parallel to the skating trail, with fewer additional loops and only minor altitude differences. With its moderate descents and ascents, this route is also suitable for less experienced skiers. Beginners can enjoy the benefits of nature and sport on a primarily flat 3.5-kilometre section of the Ricken trail (skating and classic), which is marked in red as a "Herzloipe" (heart cross-country ski trail). To avoid the downhill loop, you can take a shortcut next to the practice area.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
