Valais Alpine Bike
Overview
Intro
The forest road up to the Moosalp Pass gets the calves working. Surrounded by the Valais's 4,000-metre peaks, a flowing single-trail descent awaits you. The route descends through the larch forest to Törbel and a bit steeper into the Matter Valley.
Description
Thanks to the Brandalp chair lift, you can rest your legs a while longer. You will then need the power for the ascent up to the Moosalp Pass. The ride leads on a mostly unpaved road through the forest. Of course, you can also take the bus. Either way, make sure you try the legendary Crèmeschnitte at the restaurant Moosalp.
Your ride starts with magnificent views of the Saaser and Matter Valleys with their 4,000-metre peaks. The single trail around the Stand viewpoint is flowing and easy. A hairpin bend follows shortly after Breitmatte. The superb route, which has a slightly more challenging middle section, runs through the larch forest to Törbel. At the local Urchigs Terbil open-air museum, several typical buildings – including a barn, a mill and a bakehouse – provide insights into what everyday life in a Valais mountain village used to be.
The descent to Stalden begins along the main road, followed by a few thrilling but rather steep sections. Once you've reached the Matter Valley, continue on the Matterhorn Valley Trail via Kalpetran to St. Niklaus. The postbus takes you to Grächen, where the next stage starts.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
