Intro

This trail takes hikers from a bustling winter sports resort to total seclusion in no time at all. At the highest point on the tour lies a hidden gem: the cosy Waldhüttli mountain pub.

Description

It starts at the mountain station of the world's steepest funicular, which connects the car-free mountain village of Stoos with the valley. The snowshoe trail stays close to the village at first before heading away from the bustle and into more leisurely and peaceful surroundings. On these winter hiking and snowshoe trails, hikers feel like they have nature all to themselves. A short, steep climb brings them to the highest point on the route and the charming, rustic Waldhüttli mountain pub, which is only open in winter.

Once they've had enough of the view of Stoos village, the Schwyz basin and the Kleiner and Grosser Mythen peaks, they can make their way down to the Klingenstock chairlift valley station. The descent is quite steep, but only at first. Whilst the chairlift marks the official end of the trail, hikers can of course continue on their snowshoes back to the village of Stoos.

An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
