Theme and adventure trails in Valais

The name of the village, Gletsch, says it all: it is clearly a place near a glacier. That was indeed the case 150 years ago. Today, the Gletsch Nature Trail bears witness to the once mighty presence of the Rhone Glacier.

The idea behind the "Senses Trail" is that nature should be felt, touched, tasted, smelled, heard, and seen, and learning about it should be fun.

Visitors can explore a rich geological diversity in the Binntal valley thanks to its exceptionally varied flora. The treasure of this valley is concealed within the mountain – nature has made the Binntal valley one of the regions of the Alps which is richest in mineral deposits.

Since the summer of 2006, Mund has had another attraction: the Saffron Nature Trail. There are six stations with information panels along the easy walk explaining the saffron culture of Mund.

An educational footpath is situated in the Zau Zoura forest, uphill from the village of Ayer.

The Tambourin wine cellar and Pascal Cordonier take you to a magical, silent place, hidden away in amongst alpine pastures at an altitude of 2000m – here, you can experience a timeless day unlike any other.

Two local children, Aletscha and Aletschander, are the leading figures introducing you to the Massa Trail (Ried-Mörel to Blatten, approx. 3 hours.)

Farinet was a famous adventurer and a master of forgery. Born 150 years ago, he took refuge at Saillon and became a legend.

Along the Fairy Tale Path, the kids hear exciting stories and legends about Saas-Fee and the surrounding mountains.

Four treasure hunt trails around Nendaz make family hikes an exciting adventure. This way of hiking is great fun for children as well.

It is said that they once lived everywhere in Oberwallis – the Gogwärgini- those hard-working dwarfs. At some point they disappeared. But the stories about the "Gogwärgini" have remained up to this day and can be discovered on the Gogwärgi theme route.

Children learn exciting tales about the old Lötschen Valley during a wonderful, easy hike along the Lötschental mountain trail (2 1/2 hours).

Wolli Wonderland combines puzzle fun and playground in one and guarantees a fantastic family experience!

Opened in spring 2007, the wine trail is an ideal way to discover the Valais and birthplace of some delightfully palatable regional wines.
