Picturesque Rhine Valley A narrow waterway turned imposing river, the Rhine flows through the idyllic valley that bears its name in its final stretch on Swiss territory.
To the south, the tabular Jura borders the river and occasionally offers breathtaking views of the expanse of the Black Forest. Magnificent bridges, some covered, connect Switzerland to the rest of the world here, and charming villages and small towns await your visit on both sides of the river. Basel is also a gateway to the world that you will reach at the end of your hike by following ancient fishing trails.
