Swiss National Park
Intro
Everything is nature-oriented in the Swiss National Park in the Engadine. All this can be enjoyed in an area of over 170 square kilometers. Thanks to 100 kilometers of hiking paths, nature trails and excursion destinations for children and families; everyone can have a good time. The Swiss National Park, founded in 1914, is the oldest in the Alps.
In the interests of nature conservation - visitors are not allowed to leave the hiking paths - you can see ibexes, chamois, marmots, bearded vultures and golden eagles here in the wild, not to mention countless other wild animals.
The visitors’ centre in Zernez has an interactive display about the National Park, temporary seasonal exhibitions on nature-themed topics, as well as an information point and shop. You can immerse yourself in the wilderness of the National Park by going on the wide range of excursions on offer. Excursions aimed at children and families encourage to discover our environment through play. Especially popular is the Champlönch children’s trail, used in conjunction with the GPS-supported iWebpark app.
1 August 2014 was the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Swiss National Park (SNP). A date that celebrates a handful of pioneers and visionaries who established the first national park in the Alps - setting a remarkable example for the protection of nature.
