The watchmaking industry has shaped the valley since the 18th century, earning it the name Valley of Watches. World-renowned manufacturers such as Audemars Piguet and Blancpain are based in Le Brassus, while Jaeger-LeCoultre and Vacheron Constantin are in Le Sentier.
