Intro

Paradise for both walkers and epicures! The Hotel Fafleralp has something for every budget, from basic dormitories for groups to complete wellness suites. Guests staying in the 24 rustic rooms of this 100-year-old chalet hotel can look forward to rest and relaxation in a safe environment and to Christian's exquisite culinary creations, most of them Valaisan specialities. At an altitude of 1800 m, this is also a great starting point for expeditions into the picturesque Lötschental whether under your own steam or with Pius the mountain guide.

Description

Both in summer and winter, the Hotel Fafleralp is something for connoisseurs, hikers and gourmets! The Fafleralp has had a lively hotel tradition since 1908. Until the road to the Fafleralp was opened in the early 1970s, all the equipment and often the guests were taken up to the alp by mule. Charlie Chaplin was the most famous guest in the 1960s. Nestled in the sparse larch forest, guests can enjoy the peace and quiet and the view of the Lötschental mountains and glaciers. It has alpine-style rooms in the hotel or in Chalet Chaplin. Other chalets with hotel service and wellness facilities are scattered around the alp in the immediate surroundings. Discover them thanks to the expert Lötschental mountain guides or with the hotelier's hiking tips. On the garden terrace or in the restaurant, savour local specialities accompanied by Valais wines.
The Lötschental extends from Goppenstein in the west over the Fafleralp to the Lötschenlücke in the east. Tourist activities are centred around the four villages of Ferden, Kippel, Wiler and Blatten, as well as the Fafleralp. To get to Goppenstein and the Lötschental by train, it takes a good hour from Bern. Drivers from the north load their cars in Kandersteg.

"Nothing is more beautiful than Fafleralp!" This is what Charlie Chaplin, one of its most loyal guests, wrote in the guest book 50 years ago. And even today, Fafleralp remains a world of its own. The lighting in the quaint Walliserstube restaurant, for example, is powered by the hotel's own mini power plant. And to accompany the traditional Valaisan dishes served in the restaurant there are wines from the hotel's own vineyard. Fafleralp also has its own mountain guide to take hikers up into the mountains. The High Alpine location is a source of energy, enabling guests to regenerate – until their next visit to the Lötschental.
