Immer am dritten Sonntag vor Ostern werden in Appenzell grosse Feuerstösse aufgeschichtet und angezündet, um damit den Winter zu vertreiben.

On the programme during these few days of celebration: Guggens, DJ's, bars, costumes and a Carna'Kids afternoon with magic, face painting and dance shows.

Jedes Jahr lockt die Thuner Fasnacht rund 30'000 begeisterte Besucherinnen und Besucher in die Thuner Innenstadt. Das bunte Treiben ist kostenlos, der Kauf einer Plakette jedoch Ehrensache.

Woher kommt dieser Brauch und welche Bedeutung hat er? Fastnacht ist die Nacht vor der Fastenzeit. Darauf deutet auch der Ausdruck «carne vale», Fleisch, lebe wohl!

The traditional Wiler Fastnacht starts on Wednesday and ends on Sunday with the big carnival parade through the town. Children's masked ball, court jester's ball, monster concert & endless parties.

Der legendäre Fantasienball des TV Muri!

Rund 1'000 Fasnächtler:innen besammeln sich beim alten Zoll in der Fröschweid, um sich für den Fackelumzug einzustellen.

Nach dem Umzug treffen sich alle kleinen Fasnächtler:innen auf dem Zähringerplatz. Mit musikalischer Guggenunterhaltung, Spiel, Spass, Konfetti, Tee und Zvieri verbringen sie den Nachmittag.

Ab 18:41 Uhr beginnen die Guggenkonzerte. Speaker führen mit interessanten Informationen über die Guggen durch den Abend. Während rund 4 Stunden geben alle ihr musikalisches Können zum Besten.

Um 18:11 Uhr startet der Trauerumzug am Obertorplatz. Die Fasnächtler:innen hüllen sich in weisse Leintücher, um die Fröhlichkeit und die farbenfrohen Kostüme zu verdecken.

Am Umzug erleben wir lang gelebte Traditionen und neuere dargestellte Geschichten in farbenprächtigen Kostümen und liebevoll gestalteten Sujet.
