The Mühleholz country inn was built in 1983 and is located on the western shore of Lake Baldegg at 483 metres above sea level, in the middle of Lucerne’s Seetal valley. Surrounded by agricultural land, the inn boasts unimpeded views of Lake Baldegg, the Seetal valley and the surrounding hills.
Like its neighbouring valleys, the Suhrental (to the west) and the Reusstal (to the east), the Seetal is one of the valleys of the central plateau that were created during the ice age by the Reuss and Linth glaciers. A clear indication of these origins can be seen in the numerous ridges in the area of Lake Baldegg, such as the Herrenberg near Ermensee or the Kaiserspan near Gelfingen.
Seetal is the oldest and largest wine region in the canton of Lucerne. After viticulture almost came to a standstill at the beginning of the 20th century, acreage has been increasing continuously since the 1960s. Since 2005, Seetal wine has been protected by the controlled designation of origin AOC.
