Hint

Intro

A steep climb to Caux, then a leisurely walk to Le Planellet. Repeatedly, views of the mountains open up, including the Dents du Midi. The second half begins with a descent in the forest. Below, a change of scenery: exposed passages, partly secured with chains, lead up to the Col de Taney. The hamlet of the same name with its lake is also located there.

Description

Torgon is a small resort in the municipality of Viannaz. The village is located in the Portes du Soleil ski area, the largest in Europe. With a magnificent view of the Rhone valley and the Valais mountain peaks, you hike steeply up to La Caux. The route continues uphill on a varied, slightly exposed path to Le Planellet. The trees thin out more and more, opening up "windows" with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. The seven rock teeth of the Dents du Midi and the two peaks of Les Jumelles and Le Grammont are particularly striking.

After about two hours, half of the hike is completed. Here, at the Col du Blanc Sé, the trail branches off to the right and leads downhill through the forest for a short while. At Plan de l'Ortie, the scenery changes. You ascend to La Charmille across a beautiful meadow. Some exposed passages follow, mostly secured with chains, where surefootedness is required. However, you soon leave these behind and branch off in the direction of the Col du Taney.

Shortly afterwards you will arrive in the hamlet of the same name. The summer village is idyllically situated in a beautiful, protected landscape with a small lake. The lake is an amphibian spawning area of national importance and seems to have no outlet. Croaking frogs welcome you, and now and then an alpine salamander shows up. The easily accessible shores invite you to swim, dive or fish.

An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
